Rev. Don Tines, 34 year veteran pastor of West Willow Community Church in Enid, Oklahoma. Don was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan graduated from East Detroit High School in 1975. Don graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a B.S. In Religious Education in 1983. He married Virginia Faye Green in Sparta, Tennessee in 1977. (Virginia graduated from Tennessee Temple in 1977 with a B.S. in Education and later from Oklahoma State University in 1985 with a M.S. in Education) Don attended Moody Graduate School, Oklahoma State University and Michigan State University (MBA in Business Management conferred December 2015) Don has an honorary doctorate in ministry from a few good friends.
Don and Virginia came to Enid, Oklahoma September 1983, Don working with Faith Baptist Church, Virginia with Enid Public Schools as a reading specialist. Don transplanted the church and recommissioned it in May of 1992 as West Willow Community Church. Don and Virginia have two children, Simra, 31 living in Houston, Texas and Stephen, 26 living in Austin, Texas
Leanne Hawkins serves as West Willow’s pastoral counselor. Leanne was born June 1958 and raised in rural Northeastern Nebraska. Leanne attended college at Wayne State University where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Community Service Counseling in December 1979. She completed a Masters degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1999 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in June 2003. Leanne enjoys a counseling career in a variety of settings in Iowa, Texas and Oklahoma. For the past 20 years she has been working as an educational and guidance counselor in the school setting. Leanne married Doug Hawkins in 1998 and together they have 4 children.
Virginia Tines: Educational Director Virginia “Faye” Green Tines was born in Detroit Michigan and at age 4 was transplanted to her family’s farm in Middle Tennessee. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1973 and immediate enrolled at Tennessee Temple University graduating with her B.S. in Elementary Education in 1977. She married Don on August 20, 1977. Virginia taught 3rd grade for 6 years at Unity Christian Schools in Rossville, Georgia. She moved to Enid with her husband in August 1983. She graduated from Oklahoma State University receiving her M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction in 1991. She has taught in Enid Public Schools since 1984 her recent assignment of 12 years has been a Reading Specialist at Coolidge Elementary. Virginia is an accomplished pianist and works as a Junior Church Director.
